 Acer Aspire One

Some users don’t need a fully fledged notebook computer for their daily tasks. For the user who only surfs the Internet, watches the occasional video and listens to music a small netbook like the ASUS Eee may be just what they need.

The ASUS Eee has spawned a plethora of similar systems competing for the low price, portable netbook market and Acer introduced its Aspire One netbook a while back just for this market. Acer announced that the One is now available for purchase in America.

The One can be had with Linpus Linux, 8.9-inch LCD, 8GB SSD, 512MB of RAM and an Intel Atom N270 CPU for $379. Users wanting Windows can get a version with a 120GB HDD, Windows XP Home and 1GB of RAM for $399. Both of these models have a 3-cell battery and graphics via Intel Graphics Media Accelerator. For $449 users can get Linux, a 6-cell battery, and 1GB of memory. Wi-Fi and LAN are built into all the models as well as a host of other features.
